Current Status
Economic inequality among Asian Americans is still an important issue in the United States to this day. Many people believe that Asian Americans are financially stable and successful, however, many still face poverty, low wages, and limited opportunities inside the Asian American community. More attention has been given to the economic differences within Asian American groups, helping people understand that they should not all be categorized under one name. One major challenge is the rising cost of living. Many Asian Americans, especially immigrants and low-income workers, struggle to keep up with expensive housing, healthcare costs, and unstable jobs (Asian Law Caucus). Another current challenge is the unequal access to resources and representation. Many Asian Americans have limited access to opportunities and are often overlooked (The Asian American Foundation). Economic inequality among Asian Americans also connects to a larger national issue, leading to a cause where the concentration of wealth can increase inequality across the United States (Hanauer; Oxfam America).
Persistance

The Asian Law Caucus continues to support workers' rights, housing justice, and fair treatment for Asian Americans alongside immigrant communities, showing that these problems still persist and affect many families (Asian Law Caucus).
Overlooked

The Asian American Foundation explains the disparity where Asian American and Pacific Islander communities remain underserved and overlooked. This creates ongoing debates how government leaders and organizations should improve their support on communities facing poverty and limitation on opportunities (The Asian American Foundation).
Inequality

Nick Hanauer in his TED talk, "The Dirty Secret of Capitalism – and a New Way Forward", argues that low wages, unfair economic policies, and wealth being concentrated among the rich have increased the inequality across the U.S. Oxfam America has a similar point, stating that growing wealth gaps continue to hurt working families and reduce economic mobility (Hanauer; Oxfam America).

The Issue
This issue impacts American society because economic inequality affects access to education, healthcare, housing, and job opportunities. When the communities are overlooked, inequality grows, and social well-being becomes harder to achieve. Addressing problems can help create a stronger and more equal society for everyone.
